Rossini’s award-winning Italian restaurant at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok, together with Italasia will host a memorable Lungarotti Wine Dinner on Friday March 22, 2013.
Founded by Giorgio Lungarotti in the early 60s, Lungarotti quickly became renowned as the finest winery in Umbria, a region regarded as the ‘Heart of Italy’. The family winery is credited with producing pioneering wines on a par with Super Tuscans.
Diners at the Lungarotti Wine Dinner will be welcomed with a refreshing glass of Pinot Grigio De’ll Umbria 2011 accompanied by the chef’s tastystuzzichini and savory bites. The first of five exquisite courses enjoyed in Rossini’s enchanting Tuscan villa setting will be trout and artichoke carpione with a capsicum purée and beurre blanc.The light and delicous fish dish will be accompanied by Lungarotti Aurente Chardonnay Grechetto 2008, a well structured and refined wine with delicate citrus acidity and a long finish. The second dish of the evening will be a flavourful Umbrian truffle and porcini soup with peccorino foam and crispy proscuitto paired with Lungarotti Rubesco Rosso Di Torgiano Sangiovese Canaiolo 2008. Aged between 10-12 months in oak casks, the ruby red wine displays delicate notes of cloves, wild berries and violet, and good body. Discerning diners at Rossini’s will also enjoy braised pheasant lasagna with sage essence matched with an intense and engaging Lungarotti Sagrantino Di Montefalco DOCG 2008 followed by succulent slow cooked Wagyu fillet mignon served with the venerableLungarotti San Giorgio Sangiovese Canaiolo Cabernet Sauvignon IGT 2009. The epicurean evening will end with a divine Granny Smith apple and raspberry cassata coated with crunchy hazelnut chocolate and complemented by Dulcis Vino Liquoroso, a sweet dessert wine with a bouquet reminiscent of orange blossom.
