Samunprai Thai -Healthy Herb Menu at basil



Chef Kesinee welcomes diners back to basil with truly exceptional dishes that focus on the array of fragrant herbs or samunprai used in Thai cuisine. The gifted chef has chosen many of the diner’s favorite dishes from her popular series of special menus that turned the spotlight on the most essential herbs and spices.

Renowned for her extraordinary skill and masterful use of fresh Thai herbs and complex spice blends, Chef Kesinee will draw inspiration from Chinese keys, galangal, holy basil and Thai basil, kaffir lime leaf, lemongrass, and turmeric.

Highlights on basil’s carefully balanced menu will include herb-rich dishes such as yum hoy shell yang krachai krob, spicy grilled fresh scallops salad with crispy Chinese keys. The tropical rhizome and member of the ginger family is often added to Thai cuisine to enliven fish and seafood dishes with its peppery taste and Chef Kesinee uses it to great effect in this sublime dish. Diners can also enjoy her interpretation of a northeastern Thai classic, laab ped krapow krob, a flavorful salad of minced duck with crispy holy basil, and phad neau nok krajork ted bai horapa, a distinctly contemporary dish of stir fried ostrich with Thai basil. 

The gifted chef’s aromatic soups include gaeng som pla hima, a sour soup with snow fish which uses fresh turmeric for color and depth of flavor, and gaeng see klong moo oon bai yeera, a spicy red curry with succulent pork spare ribs, yeera leaves and lemongrass. A Celebration of Korean Cuisine at Orchid Café


In August, Orchid Café welcomes Chef Chi-ho Yoon and Chef Baek Su Jin from the Sheraton D Cube in Seoul, for a special Korean culinary experience. The two gifted chefs invite diners to enjoy an array of authentic cuisine for lunch and dinner from August 8 – 17, 2014.

The recipients of several honors and awards for their extraordinary cooking, Chef Chi-ho Yoon and Chef Baek Su Jin will showcase their native cuisine with timeless classics and contemporary interpretations. Through the use of the finest ingredients and complex spice blends, diners will discover why authentic Korean cuisine is renowned as one of the most exciting tastes in Asia.

At Orchid Café, the two exceptional chefs will offer tempting hot and cold dishes, a la minute cuisine from a live station, and irresistible desserts. Highlights will include a selection of kimchi and delicious salads such as fresh ginseng salad with abalone, shrimp salad with apricot sauce, and the intriguing acorn jelly salad. There will also be regional favorites including chicken stew from An Dong province, succulent braised pork belly with kimchi, and silky red ginseng fowl soup. A choice of dishes cooked with freshly caught seafood, including grilled baby octopus with garlic and chilli paste, spicy marinated crab, and fragrant soybean soup with seafood. “Pan-grilled Snow Fish with Potato Espuma, Prosciutto di Parma Flakes, Taggiasche Olives and Gremolata”


Since its doors opened 15 years ago, Rossini’s at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit has enjoyed a reputation as Bangkok’s finest Italian restaurant, garnering a host of prestigious awards in recognition of culinary excellence.

Prized Taggiasche olives add slightly tart salty notes and an enticing violet color, and finally a garnish of gremolata made with lemon and orange zest and Italian flat leaf parsley completes the dish with refreshing burst of citrus. Beautifully orchestrated by an extraordinary chef, Rossini’s signature pan-grilled snow fish with potato espuma, prosciutto di Parma flakes, Taggiasche olives and gremolata is truly exceptional dish and must be experienced.  

Other highlights on the Rossini’s menu include Italian classic Ossobucco served on the bone with pumpkin purée.
